THE JOY DIVISION ARTWORKS

I make wall-art copies of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures LP cover.

The picture below was taken by Joy Division’s Peter Hook.  I gave him one of my artworks when I saw him in concert as Peter Hook and the Light in Cardiff’s Glee Club in 2014.  Peter hung my artwork on the wall of his office in Manchester and sent me these two photos.

This is the second photo from his office.  The bass guitar used to belong to John Entwistle according to Hooky.

The artworks are approximately twice the size of the original 12″ LP’s (my 28 year old LP is shown on the left in the photo below).

The radio wave sequence is made from silver wire which stands out from the surface by approximately 6mm.

The surface of the artwork is covered by black cloth (100% linen), which accurately recreates the original pattern of the LP cover. The wires shimmer in the light…

Two of the artworks in my home.  The bottom one is now in Hooky’s office.

If you’d like one of my artworks please get in touch using the contact form on the site.

My next project is to make a similar sized wall-hanging of Joy Division’s Closer LP cover.  I’ve created a bas-relief sculpture of the tomb scene.

The next step is to cast some copies and figure out how best to mount the castings.
